it's juice time !!! the kitchen appliance i refused to let go of when i moved placed even higher on my necessities list than my kitchen aid mixer (a bright persimmon orange too! hard to believe, i know.) was my champion juicer. and since my greenhouse is overflowing with leafy greens, this is the concoction i came up with yesterday...
- lots of pears, probably about 6-8
- ginger
- handful of kale...i grow russian red kale, but any kind is yum
- handful of parsley...i use flat leaf, also called italian, but any kind will work
be sure to throw the parsley in last, because there is one more important step that absolutely has to come after the parsley...(this might only work with a champion juicer because of the screen and how it's designed, but be adventureous and try it anyway!) put in about 2 cups of frozen mango. there's not a log of juice that comes out except a few frozen bits...but the magic is what comes out of the pulp spout...a creamy, icey, whippy, indescribable palate delite of mango-parsley yumminess. when putting frozen fruit through a juicer they are called "whips". the consistency is kind of like gelatto, and can be done with bananas as the thick base, and any frozen fruit (preferably a berry) as the main flavor. i only discovered this mango-parsley whip by accident, but be sure that i will make this accident happen again :)

another hybrid heart
on the cover of a little notebook i have is inscribed this quote...
"I must be a mermaid, I have no fear of depths and a great fear of shallow living."

woman quits day job to be a mermaid
truly, she's doing my dream career. my new heroine! all little girls dream of being a mermaid, but then as they get older that dream fades, and so called "real" dreams develope that are more suitable for this shallow, contrived idea of a successful life. well, my dream of being a mermaid never faded, and apparently this woman's didn't either. AND, she really goes diving in her new fish tail, of which she has a wardrobe to choose from. check out the professional mermaid, linda wolbert, here.
