san pedro belt

happy to be near water, happy my dog is romping in the water, romping myself

originating south of sierra vista near sonora mexico (20 miles from bisbee), one of two north flowing streams from mexico. of major ecological importance, it hosts two thirds of the avian diversity in the US. bright green cotton woods line the banks, and you can see it from miles away, as far you can see south, and as far as you can see north.

a little about little old bisbee

i arrived in bisbee on my birthday...spent it alone...again...but gave me the reason to stay in town and get busy.
i started working at the high desert market and cafe less that three days later, got in good with the ladies at the silver king hotel...

an old brothel with sinks in the rooms, bathroom down the hall, a wood stove for heat on the third floor, copper piping around the claw foot tubs, and not a whole lot of other newly renovated features. a part of the famous Gulch burro...famous for it's "lively" hood, even still today...only recently has cleaned up it's act. here's my room.

paint by number in my room...not joking...and the white spaces aren't even painted white so the numbers show

room 4 bar...guinness book of world records for tiniest bar in arizona...i work here too

i sit on the bed looking at the water stains on the ceiling wondering who has looked at this same ceiling, what has happened between these walls, all complete with ghosts...screaming asian ladies banging on the doors of 1 and 2...leaving piles of rice in front of the doors of residents who are going through bad times in the their lives, a symbol of prosperity and reassurance...and supposedly there are ghost cats too.

the slogan for bisbee is "keep bisbee bisaar"...it's not that bizarre, but rather quirky all over the place. it's famous for it's staircases throughout town, and the tiny little abodes that are crammed on the mountain sides, much like san francisco, and yard sculptures, and mosaics up the walls that support the rocky hills from land sliding, and the graffiti (that is widely welcomed) all around the water trenches...hills, hills and more hills...nestled in the crevices of a very steep cluster of mountains...you wouldn't know it's here otherwise.

arizona is all blm land (bureau of land management), which basically means public land...which is good and fun and convenient for travelers...except that the general public abuses it and it's actually more difficult to find a tent site then you'd expect due to all the piles and piles a piles of broken glass everywhere...yeah, people...pack it in, pack it out...thanks..

palm readers and energy suckers

danielle, the owner of the Silver King Hotel, read my palm tonight.

planner
absolutely will not invest unless absolutely sure of what i'm getting into
a traveler (she says this with a smile and a twinkle in her eye)
outgoing, but inhibited by something (she says this with a wrinkled brow)
"something bothers you...what is it called?...you keep it all in..."
you worry too much...and it affects your health (she says this with a concerned gaze over her bifocals) "no really, you gotta stop...it's hurting you
something tragic will happen soon, sometime before your forties and you'll have bad health until then, something
life threatening
fragile...very fragile
but you'll get better...wow!....you get really healthy!!...will probably be that way until mid 70's...you're gonna grow old
"oh wow this is....VERY interesting...i've never seen this before...you have a life shadow...you have something else going on that we can't see...hmmm....like another life somewhere else...and you know about it too, don't you?"
i smile
persuasive
auspicious
interesting nodules below jupiter and around saturn "oh how cute!"(?)

jomo, food co-op on 4th street in tucson, yesterday.
hello...(double take)...medicine woman (slowly, with a slowly creeping smile)
"wait...excuse me...what do you mean?"
he looks at me as if i don't know what he's talking about
smiles gently
"we're just kindred souls...that's all
you know things, don't you
we both cried
"and you....you need to breath...

when you can breath, you clear the mind, when the mind is clear you can heed the wisdom of your heart, and then you'll know what to do

he cupped my hands in his
i walked away to sit
i sat outside for a few minutes, breathing
and as plain as day the tension from my forehead was lifted, my eyes felt tired, and i was dazed...literally exhausted...i was so tired all i wanted to do was take a nap, right there on the sidewalk
he sucked my bad energy right out

i had to tell him thank you

and as if he hadn't already done enough for me, he comes back outside to place a gift in my hands...sage and arnica...sage to cleanse the air and to wash out all the left over stale energy, and arnica to heal the bruising and stiffness...

i walk next door to the  apothecary of my dreams...the tucson herb store...don't let the website fool you...it's dark, kind of musky, old dusty bottles in the windows and billowing hanging potted plants from the ceiling...a smell that only mother nature could create....dark wood floors, a curtained hallway leading into the back room, silence...dark wood bookshelves with oily bottle samples and homemade labels...heart potions, pitta sprays, palo santos, jars of dried gotu kola, rose hips...a much coveted space for a witchy one of me.
this saturday, classes, 20 each, or 80 for all five, saturdays...i'm supposed to go to these classes...i know it.
