Copper Queen Library in Bisbee Sucks

just about the only internet connection in town, and they have to personally connect your laptop with a password that they will not tell you. so if lady director isn't here, then it's the library computers. so someone was "stealing" internet connection...isn't that what the library is for? sharing and borrowing, so i thought.
i have many stories to tell and pictures to share with them. until then...arizona is the perfect temp all year around!

inhabited by the Mogollon people some 700 to 800 years ago.
south facing caves allowed them winter sun for warmth when it's cold, and cool breeze during summer months.

GILA national forest....and HOT SPRINGS !

very excited pooch

if it weren't for this sign i would have slid right off the edge. 15 miles of downgrade and most brakes would burn out. but, i'm such a good driver that i plowed into that sign on just the right spot of my front fender...the little rubber nub. after having a little freak out session i decided it very necessary to lighten my load. so right there at the bend in the road i unloaded everything in my truck. after hauling out my prized 50-pound-german-mennonite-from-the-chihuahuan-desert-steel-hub-wood-burning-stove i sat there in distress. i truly love that stove, but it's got to go. so i sat on rock and had some lunch before leaving her there for someone who might really need her. good bye dear stove. may you burn long and hard.

at our destination

this place rocks! $4 for a day soak, and $5 for camping which includes soaking...AND pretty much unlimited nights of camping. supposedly no more than 7 days without permission. but still, at a flat rate of $5 you can't go wrong.

adorned with all kinds of earth sculptures and trinkettes

camp site beside the river

for filling your jugs...hot water straight from the tap

from dusk til way after dawn it's nude time !!

foggy last morning

besides hanging out in the nude with nature and loving every bit of it, i did meet some wonderful people. i really should take more time in documenting the paths i cross with people, but this trip is becoming more about myself than who i run in to.  i didn't make any friendships here passed being camping neighbors at the hot springs, but i must make note of the woman named september and her two kids willow and gavin who live on an intentional community farm in the gila forest...and the man next to me with his two daughters from bisbee who recommended blm land when i get to arizona...the skinny nervous guy with dark skin and bright blue eyes who lingers between durango and upstate new york looking for work...kevin, the caretaker, who is subbing for his brother and his chow dog osa...and lastly, and most wonderfully, the woman who shared her juice and coffee and "toke" with me, and sang to herself as if i weren't there, who clearly is trailing from her hayday in the 60s - you are a happy soul, josephina.

officially gypsy

i've waited to post this, but feel like it shouldn't be any big secret. i didn't freak out much, although still kind of  bummed by the news.
so, while in el paso i received a certified email from the herbalist at the farm where i was destined to live for the next 7months, informing me that it's better for me not to come since i'll be bringing my dog along. yeah. so regardless of the nasty details of how that information was actually told to me...and all the accusations surrounding it...that's the nitty gritty. so here i am, my home on my back, taking my time along the southwest. which is why it's kind of a blessing in disguise. yes, i'm definitely not too happy about not being in the dirt and communing with the plants...but the gypsy lifestyle has been calling for some time now...and is it really planned anyway? i seem to think not. so even if this period of time in my life is short, it is what it is, and it is confirmed that there are no constraints on my time. Indi is loving every minute of it...and speaking of, there has been some renovations to Indiana's name...not by my doings...but in meeting fellow travelers he has acquired the name of Indigo, due to his one blue eye. we'll see if it sticks.

last note: i am seeking herbal farms else where in california, just in case the burning need to ask arises

SILVER CITY, NEW MEXICO

nothing but good here! everyone, everything, has been good in silver city...thus far. my first night here we stayed at silver city rv park which is right in the middle of town, which was convenient for my first night here, although camp prices are outrageous...$17.50 per night. ouch! so we only stayed one night.

but before leaving...town is only three-ish blocks away. so we walked. the first question i asked was "how dog friendly are we talking here?" the guy at the hike and bike shop got real wide eyed, like "are you kidding me?!?!"
...there is a two dog minimum, he said. smiley me practically skipping down the side walk.

very cute down town...small...but has everything...bar, coffee, bakery, deli, health food store / coop, theatre...

...and no cute town is complete without an ultra cool vintage/junk store...
the market place
waaaay tooo dangerous for meeee!
i had ABSOLUTELY no business waltzing through this warehouse sized heaven

japanese china
rows upon rows of vintage clothes

50's silk komono...$168...want

imports

i thought that taking photos of the jewelry behind glass cases would be tasteless and warrant suspicion, so i opted out of taking one of the carved stone flower on silk cord that i so badly fell in love with. can't be buying such beauties for myself, not to mention all the other lovlies i wish i could buy my friends back in marathon, when it's gas and food that's gonna get me on down the road....
